Eco-friendly Natural Fiber Composites

Natural Fiber Composites (NFC) derived from plant based fibers, e.g. jute, sisal, coir, flax, bamboo etc. combined with polymeric matrices have outpaced other synthetic counterparts. Currently, NFC’s have been found as a potential alternative in Automotive, Construction & other Engineering applications. Prof. Nayak and his research team have been working on NFC to investigate the fundamental innovations in interface of natural fibre and matrix for building light weight durable composites bestowed with desired attributes. His innovations have been explicitly utilized in developing several formulations for various end-use applications. Numerous products for automobile sector; composites roofs and decks have been developed by Prof. Nayak’s research team..
