Industry-Academia Interface:

Prof. Nayak provides technical support to Industries, and Research Institutions in all the key domains of Plastic Engineering & Technology. His concerted efforts in various indigenization activities for Petrochemical industries and Polymer in particular have been noteworthy. His involvement encompasses from Design and Development of Innovative Materials; Green Manufacturing processes and Technologies to Design of Moulds, Dies and 3D printing. He has been the precursor for Start-ups and Stand-ups for entering commercial venture; while bridging the gap between Industry-Academia. Nonetheless, he has been the mentor for Good Laboratory Practice(GLP) as per International norms and guidelines. He has been responsible for Standardisation activities in Indian context and formulated many standards for Bureau of Indian Standards in the capacity of Chairman of the Plastics Sectional Committee (PCD-12, PCD-27, CED-50 from 2007-2021). Prof. Nayak has rendered more than five lakh Technology support services to the Govt. PSU’s and Industries during the last 15 years. Prof. Nayak developed innovative prototypes & products for Aerospace, packaging, automotive and engineering applications, assisted Government in addressing various issues and challenges pertaining to single-use-plastics, compostable / biodegradable plastics / additives, formulation PWMC rules, plastic and E-Waste recycling. He has provided a road map for human resource development for downstream processing industries, tool room & training centre for MSME.

Prof. Nayak has undertaken various National Studies in the areas of Promotion of Recycling Technology for Post Consumer Plastics Waste, Fixation of Quality Standards for Plastics products, Testing centres as Certifying Agency for Testing of Plastic Products & Raw Materials, Establishment & Impact of Biodegradable Plastics on Environment/Food, Assessment and Quantification of Plastic Waste generation in metro cities and state capitals, Project Management Consultancy (PMC) for setting up of Plastics Application Development Centre (PADC).
