Prof. Nayak’s expertise in applied area have led to many technological developments in the area of Natural fiber based Composites, Nanocomposites; Biodegradable polymers; Compostable plastics; Biotransformation technology. Water purification Membranes, Marine Coatings, Dye Sensitised Solar cells, Adhesives & Paints; Plastic Waste Management(PWM), E-waste recycling etc. Prof. Nayak has setup many Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the broad area of Petrochemical with focus on ‘Green Transportation Network’, ‘Sustainable Green Materials’, Bio-Engineered Sustainable Polumeric System and manufacturing of Next Generation Biomedical Devices. He has been the prime inventor of more than 55 Nos Patents & Designs for innovative materials; processes and design development. His research papers of more than 500 Nos, published in various scientific- peer reviewed international journals have been highly cited and has received outstanding h-index of 59. He has also been the Author of 30 Nos of Books/Book Chapters published with the International Publishers. Prof. Nayak has been the Principal Investigator of more than 100 Research Projects and many consultancy assignments to the Industries. He has been the mentor for 125 Researchers, supervising them in applied areas of Polymer Science & Engineering for their Ph.D (50) and M.Tech (75) program.

Established tie-ups and collaborated with star rated international universities and renowned industries across the globe, in the broad area of Biopolymer, Polymer Rheology, Polymer membranes, Polymer electronics, Polymer recycling and standard formulation etc.
